Shepherd's House is a dedicated non-profit organization that provides shelter, support, and resources for individuals facing homelessness and crisis situations. Our mission is to create a welcoming and nurturing environment where individuals and families in need can find refuge from life's challenges. We strive to address not only the immediate physical needs of shelter, food, and safety but also to empower our guests through education, counseling and spiritual guidance. In fostering a sense of community, we seek to break the cycle of homelessness by equipping our guests with the tools and resources necessary for a renewed and self-sufficient life.
Our Beginning
In 2017, the idea of a shelter in Portage was conceived. Thanks to the support of our partners, including churches, foundations, businesses, and individuals from the community, property was purchased, building renovations were completed, and staff was chosen. As of April 2022, we are now able to provide a safe and secure shelter for those in need. Commitment to making a positive impact in the community strong, and ongoing support will help us continue our mission of helping in need.
